These are the websites that haven't fucked me over in any way or pissed me off. These days it's common for there to be Tiny little things that really piss me off, so I thought to make a list of the good guys, hence the title of this.
This is based on Garry Newman's blogpost by the same name as I honestly thought it was a fun little read. People tend to focus on the negative of the current too much so it's fun to talk about the positive.
Sheezy
When this website came to my attention by my friend I was fascinated by it. It was a reboot of an already existing very user friendly site that's straight up like a modern day Deviantart. So I used it and oh my god it really is a modern day Deviantart.
Sheezy is focused on it's users above everything else and tries it's best to promote everything even if it's a limited interest in said art. They also allow literally anything to be posted on the site and have a very loose ruleset. Really the only thing they don't want you to post is sexy fuck fuck art and to be honest that's perfectly justifiable as it's an indie site run by literally just a couple guys in Britain.
Couple that with amazing profile customization that perfectly plays the line between usable and stylistic, and a ton of other stuff, and even more features coming soon, it's a miracle it isn't more popular than it already is.
Newgrounds
NG is extremely user friendly and allow quite literally fucking everything. The only thing they don't want you to upload is commentary content and lets plays and stuff like that. It's an amazing place to find art, too: The front page is honestly just the beginning. There's recommendations for other art whenever you click on a piece of art to find things similar to it, and you can search for Anything and usually a ton of stuff will be there.
Couple that with playlists and favorites that APPEAR ON YOUR PAGE letting you show your own favorite art easily, and sharing others in the process, it's an amazing website. The userbase, which was notoriously assholish back then, has now mellowed out severely and in my experience it's pretty chill if you ignore the forums but that goes for all sites.
Whenever I remember to look at NG i get lost in all the content on there and before I know it i've wasted 2 hours just looking at stupid internet stuff as-if im a little child at school in the computer lab.
Bandcamp
There aren't really any places for indie music right now, which makes Bandcamp a deeply relieving website which fully prioritizes the artists over everything else. It's extremely easy to buy physicals and digital copies there of indie artists, and it's really easy to publish. It's also easy to find stuff on their with their searching system.
When this website was bought by Epic Games i immediately assumed the worst. Years have passed and it's pretty much the exact same. I can expect Bandcamp to be around forever. Or at least long enough that's satisfying.
Neocities
What is there to say about neocities that hasn't already been said? 1gb of storage and websites entirely for free. I've been using neocities for years. Quite frankly half a decade at this point and it's been extremely usable and safe. It's also what got me into using HTML.
When combined with Catbox to use endless images and files, Neocities is extremely, EXTREMELY powerful. It's an amazing website that is here to stay.
Nekoweb
A new player on the block is Nekoweb, a website attempting to be a true alternative to neocities. The goal with Nekoweb isn't to replace Neocities but offer an equal service so people have more options: My god, that's amazing!
Nekoweb has shown they're trustworthy and are extremely usable and user friendly.
The Shit List
Websites i used to trust but have since gotten on my bad side for whatever reason. This isn't a list for factually awful websites. Just ones that have betrayed me in some form.
BlueSky
For a long time BlueSky was my ride or die, but the management of BlueSky has slowly but surely put it on my shit-list. It simply isn't interesting. It barely gets updates, basic features from the ol' Twitter don't exist on it and they also censor palestinians. It's still a solid website, but after the political mess they got themselves in that combined with the lack of anything interesting on my timeline and constantly seeing annoying politics i don't care about has led me to ignore it. What was the point of siding with Israelis when you're the fucking left wing site, Bluesky? Idiotic leaders i tell you.
Tumblr
Man this one pains me to write because I love tumblr. I love it with all my heart and it's such a good site, but after censorship of LGBT users, constant random shadowbans, constant random deletions of accounts with no note, I simply can't with good faith use it anymore. It's reached the point where I'm genuinely irritated just using it. It's so fucking bad. I can't even use it properly anymore LOL because I just get shadowbanned, and it seems this is happening to everyone.
